So we got one of these.. Took < 1 week to arrive..

The unit is Branded THINK GEEK - so i reckon if You want one you have to get it from the lads..

First thing is, it's only got 8 notes, and 8 steps (duh!) so NO black keys available, and only 1 octave. No big deal really, it's only like 50 squids so WTF who cares! It IS 8 note poly, but soon into playing it you realise making chords with it tends to emit the same noise over & over.. This could be down to the selection of noises it makes.. Some horriffic 4op FM sounds await You - cheezy piano and so on, but with an audible HISSSS and BUZZZZ and SLUSHHHH in the background at all times. Yes, this fuc*er has a high noise floor

It only has a few fixed tempos - 80bpm, 100bpn 120 and 140 and 160bpm, as well as only a few sounds.. It appears to have no sync ability.

So, lots and lots wrong with it, and lots right with it too - price is right (ie: cheap as chips) and the product itself is actually great fun to play with - although You soon realise it's full potential, and get tired of it's sounds - longing for more tones, or the abilty to trigger external devices..

This unit has the SAME fun factor as the tenori-on (costs 25 times as much..) with less notes, only 1 pattern in realtime and that shitty background noise and limited sounds.. I'm a little disappointed actually, but do feel it's a good toy, and certainly something You could gift to a (very) young person and blow their mind..

Having spoken to tenori-on users, this seems to deliver the same value and in realterms, is about as useful to You - since it's basicly a toy. Until the arrival of a proper tenori-on with a proper sound engine, sync and bugfree operation, you really are jerking off buying anything like either if You hope to oneday use it for anything other then doodles.

Of coarse, as with all sub-$100 noisemaker toys, you just KNOW this will get bent and modded to fu*k one day, so buying one is actually a good gamble!!

well a google.ie search on tenori-on brings you here.
      t' the spring board.

      Here's where I'm at...

Want one too. so bad it hurts ..

if I had a flashy blinky light music machine, THEN ... i'd stop making excuses, and write a few tunes.

so ... tried the demo of blip2000

      http://music.service-1.de/html/blip2...encer_vst.html

it works a treat, but is too small for my touch screen.

Yes a special dialling wand is available for the fat fingers, but no. just no.

      and .....

have made mock up blip2000 skins and sent them to the dude who made it...

you know, to see if he'd consider making a full screen version.
      Attached Files
      well, well, well.

Mmm.. i think a good way to make that software panel appear bigger is to reduce Your screen resolution! Or go for a 'giant virtual desktop' - the type that moves about under the 'window' of Your screen - then You can get it to pixilated massiveness.. heh..

Oh, i wonder how Touchscreens respond to that?

        Also: Apparently bent Bliptronic 5000:

Get a recent rev as those things had lots of complaints in the early days. 1st gen had shite interface lag and were not what they said on the tin, even at a cost of 3,000 squids :/

Took delivery of a novation launchpad its got 64 flashing squidgy colourdy lights, mmm the future has arrived.

its very "space 1999", which of course was set in the future when we watched it.

seems the future got delayed, was late, but its here now, so we're grand.

launchpad connects to laptop via usb and launchpad programme thing.

                  then.... oh yes then,

                  we load up maxruntime (free)

with nonome ( a monome emulating app shell)

plus a monome app like polygome (- pattern instrument)

connect this lot via internal midi to your daw,

                  and as alan partridge says

                  ahaaaaaaah

                  now were suckin' diesel
                  well, well, well.

I will collect suggestions for the next version. But this needs a complete overhaul as it was a quick cluttered work.
                    Plans so far:
                    - bigger buttons (but needs to fit 1024x768)
                    - extra row for velocity/CC per step
                    - selectable note scales
                    - "wipe over" capability instead of "click per button"
                    - I am thinking of 4 pages for 3 different sequ lines + drums

                    well that will be amazing,

                    and worth paying for.
                    well, well, well.
