The odds are stacked against them.. the last one was a chaotic mudbath, and i can confirm that most of the service providers that were there in 2008 don't want to repeat the experience if they can help it..
It's bollocks to blame the weather for the mess - there are ways to prepare for bad weather, and despite being told by ME during the week leading up to it, they did NOTHING to combat the mud & rain.
At the 'afters' meetings, where all the involved parties met up to go over the whole thing there were heated exchanges, and fingers pointing re: crappy planning and bad organisation.
I would think if it DOES happen, it will be on the scale of the Wintersession 08, with a capacity of 4999 as this would avoid having to get a 'real' event licence, which given the mudbath last time, and the current run of Tivoli disasters, would seem the only way to get past the issue of the place turning into a stabfest.
yeah i really dont know what to expect because of hearing so many different story's. i think ill just sit back and wait this one out and see what the outcome is.
I can confirm that RTE are unlikely to cover the event as they cannot guarantee the safety of the crew required. Most of the people needed for a broadcast fear for their personal safety.
i'd nearly make the trip over to global this year. even do i should be concentrating on trying to get a gig for myself also! time to get the finger out i'd say!
Planet Love mudfest was a laugh! The rain didn dampen my spirits...even after i fell into the shite coverd slurry..3 times haha! Good music, good people..shite weather, ya cant have it all i suppose!
Well lads i'm on the fence for this one could go either way, But my guess is that springer is rite, it'll prob only be wintersessionesque, And a load of balls but who knows . . .
Yeh, well, who knows what will happen this year.. At this stage, we will have very little choice what to play at/go to/support, as right now we have 2 things with actual tickets on sale and promotion underway: Jack & Shit, and Jack just left town..
Edit: News just in, Shit has announced it won't be running anything this year either..
So that leaves us with, er, nothing.
In the face of NOTHING happening, then yes, A Planet Love Gig would be better then NOTHING, as even sitting in a lake of effluent is preferable to nothing. No, wait, that isn't better then nothing, because nothing doesn't involve paying to wallow in shite..
Edit: News just in, Shit has announced it won't be running anything this year either..
..
