  • irish dj mixes on micky macs danceshow

hi folks, does anyone out there have copies or know anyone who had copies of mixes done by irish dj's for the micky mac danceshow from about 1995-1998 or so. maybe the dj's themselves still have copies stored away? dj's featured included dj pressure, mr. spring, paddy sheridan of pod, dj angie and greg and shane from cork. i know there are three in the download section already. would really appreciate any info or help. thank you!!

Playthatbeat - Get that out here _immediately_ . The sooner that gets chucked into the public domain, the quicker I b smilin'!

        jasonmcareedj - Ray D'Arcy? Here's why...
I was at a ScaryEire gig in Barnstormers around the winter of '92 and had a brief chat with Mek after. During the banter, Ray D'Arcy (with a stunner on his shoulder, I'll have u know) butts in to say bye to Mek since he was about to leave (wit de stunner o'course).
I says to Ray (a bit disgusted) - "Uuuuh Maaaan! WTF are u doing here!", feeling he shouldn't be let into the building as this was underground hip-hop and no maggots allowed, etc. Ray looks at Mek as if to say "That kid knows NUTTIN!" and says to Mek "He wants to know what the fuck I'm doing here..." to which Mek replies to me: "He's got a lot more reason to be here than you do, bud"

A while later I think it was Jay (from Ghost N' Jay) told me Ray D'Arcy was the first DJ in the country who sync-mixed on 2 technics (around 1984).

So there u have it - Ray was playin'. He was playin' alright. I don't know what the feck he was playin', but he was playin' anyway. Long before most of us.

        Laterz..

            Aye

this is very true..Ray used to let Mek practice on his decks in his studio at home in Kildare. We also rehearsed(badly)for the Jo-Maxi shows Ray got us onto.History in that D'arcy lad.Plus ...He may not have been a scratch/hip hop Dj but synch mix he did....All sorts..Good man Ray.

Oh goddamn i MUST get these mixes Xferred..

Hmm. i wonder who aired the first Homebrew mixes? I know SUNSHINE RADIO used to play DiscoNet and DMC mixes Saturday night, but they were bought in..

I think STEVEN GRANT presented an electro show on The Bray Pirate BLB in early 1984 , and i did some butt-joint things for that.. It was mostly cassetes of NY radio re-cycled AFAIK

That show didn`t last long, and it was ~2 years before ELAINE KEOGH (now a newsreader) did a club show, later taken over by BARRY WARNER!!!

              [brain hurts now]

Hi Tim, fairplay for putting up the Dj Mek,Dj Pressure,Dj Nutter and your own mix from Frisky. Any chance of scouring the 2fm archives for more mixes from back in the day? I realise its a time consuming, arduous task and god only knows who or what you'd come across (I'm convinced Micky Mac and Electric Eddie are hiding out there just waiting for the opportunity to launch themselves back into the public domain). I think I still have the mix listings from the Sunday World lying around somewhere for some of them, they could give you a date/starting point. Thanking you, inlikeflynn.

Hi, the mix listings were from The Star, they used to be from Paul Henderson's page on a friday . I only have one left and there's no date, sorry! Other mixes from Irish Dj's include some by Tom Cole(tc),Mick Kielty,Glen Brady and Hughy Sweeney. If anyone has any copies I would greatly appreciate a version in any format!!! Cheers.
