Basically Fundacion is meant to be a representation of what Alexander was doing with his new toy Ableton at his Fundacion residencies in the US, one in Crobar in NY & the other in LA.
To be honest, Ive always had an open opinion on the man. We know hes Sasha, we know he can mix 2 records for about 37 minutes & we know hes more than often gonna bore the pants off you unless hes in one of his special moods.
Now, anyone whos read my review of him at Fabric last month will know that Ive all of a sudden jumped onto the Sasha bandwagon cos to be honest, he fuckin blew me away....filthy basslines all night long, none of this airy fairy or boring prog shite hes been known so much for in the last few years.
The CD is well listen'able...you put it on & the first half just kind of washes over you. The annoying thing about it from a DJ's point of view is that you hear this fucking mega track/riff & when you go & search it out on its own....its not the same thing. This is where his Ableton (aka audio wanking) comes into play.
Take for example the Phonique track....on the CD theres this savage little riff that rolls & rolls....the kind that you could listen to forever whilst tearing holes in your gums, but when you search out the track itself, the riff lasts for about 10 seconds before it disappears into all this other crap.
Hes done a lot of that on the CD & some of the tracks you really have to listen for in order to catch a bit of them....then again, its different & at least every cunt wont be able to do the same mix with a bag of records within 3 months time.
I like the CD....its well worth your cash & the LTD edition packaged version that I saw on Saturday is cool, some nice moments on there & even the boring bits are pass'able cos you know hes gonna have to pull something out of the bag as its only a 1 CD mix......that in saying I wish he'd done a 2CD set....one for the warmup & one full of filth
Best moment on the CD has to go to the Goldfrapp remix at the end....absolute monster up loud & a reminder of exactly the kinda stuff he played at Fabric....I dont care what time Im on at the Global Gathering or whos on after me, Im gonna lash that fucker out

          9/10
