  • annoying server jams!!

apologies to those experiencing loooooong wiats for pages (sometimes up to 3 minutes for posting, 2 minutes for just accessing a page!!) i have no fu*king idea what is wrong, but our Hosts and The authors of this Board are about to splice to sort it out..

anyone experiencing these hangs can post in this thread to make themselves feel better..

      Intermittent access times.
04:00 GMT 24/07/2007: up to 3 minutes wait followed by error msg: "Server too busy at this time. Please try again later".
Then pages are fast, then slow again.
14:00 GMT 24/07/2007: delays down to 30 seconds, only the odd "Server busy" msg, much quicker now.
I saw a webcrawler bot in here last month. It was accessing as a guest user. It wasn't google or yahoo or altavista, thought nothing of it, but it's possible that if a bot is reading every page in the db it might slow access for everyone else. Just a thought. I'm not sure if robots.txt will work on a php/sql page server. Might be worth looking into.

yep, plenty of bots about, but the lags are caused by OTHER users at our datacentre.. we share a server with 20+ other people, and one of them is hogging processor cycles..

ah well.. the datacentre knows about it and is looking into it..

          slow server

Checked the whois for your host and 19,182 other sites share your server, you should move to a new one, my web hosts server runs on 2 X dual core pentium processors and 4 gigs memory, super fast server.

Hosting365.com are used by a few in this town. 4yo a month or 40 a year for hosting on an existing server, allegedly unlimited PHP&SQL space.
