Album Update: The 3 discs have been chosen, with 24 tracks in total out of 30 that were candidates. 9 of these have been edited to ~4min times, the rest have been topped & tailed and compressed to 256k MP3 files, and grouped into 3 folders on a Dual Audio/Data CD-ROM: Disc 1,2 & 3 (duh!). Each Folder's content can be dragged & dropped to you favorite Portable MP3 player, or via your desktop (or whatever), burned onto a blank CD. Are you with me so far? Good. The edits will be placed in the Audio Portion of the CD, so you can play them in any oldschool CD player immediatly, and get an overview of the more friendly tracks in the Package. RADIO DJs will be offered a Download package of these edits to get them ahead - this offer will be within 3 weeks, with the CD itself to follow for August. BOTTOM LINE: on 1 single CD, there will be: 9 edited audio tracks in the Audio Portion, and 24 MP3 tracks hidden on the Data portion For you to burn or Load into a player or copy to your MUSIC folder on your computer. This means we can keep things on 1 single CD, in a slim case, and save $$$$$$ for everyone involved.
As Far as i know, this is the First time an Album has been offered in a Hard Data Form, rather then on Audio disc with the option to Pay for MP3 versions online. Some Folk think this is a suicidal move, as everyone will just Share the MP3s and that will be that, but TBH, i think it`s a Winning move, as i get to loose the money for pressing a single CD instead of 3, and You all save 20 minutes of your lives by having the MP3s all ready to use.. Also, if you DO decide to actually Buy a CD, it will cost a lot less since it will be a single piece, in a small box etc..
Is there ANYONE out there who does not use an MP3 device of some sort to listen to music? I mean REALLY anyone? And if there is, don`t they have a Computer, or know someone with a computer that can burn them off the 3 CDs from the data section? I mean Seriously.. Well, if there IS, and they somehow buy the CD by mistake or something, they WILL be able to hear the 9 edits, uncompressed, in full glorious WAV from the CD if they fail completely on the MP3 side of it all, and just stick the disc into an ancient CDA machine.. So, everybody wins.
Next Installment will be: final Tracklisting, and the announcement of a (password protected archive) download link for the Edits for Radio DJs to play with. Now, about the Radio edits.. I DO realise that to alot of the Radio Jocks in Ireland i am technically RTE, and therefore the Enemy and must Die in a Fire, and this will be a wasted excercise, but i want them to think for a moment about the day i become supreme leader of the planet, and how they might like to be the Mayor of a nice City on the Equator, or President of a bunny-ranch chain.. Think deep, long and hard about that, follow your hearts, and make an investment in your future. Also, the first person to play 2 tracks on their show will be guaranteed a place on the Board Of directors of Microsoft, and a Brand New Nissan V36 GT-R as soon as i take over...
