story lads, anyone recommend some decent apps for macs???

got me one of these \l/ durin the week for my music technology course

fraid you kinda blew it man, your down to playing $$$ for anything for a mac.. so, it's down to LOGIC or PRO-TOOLS ..

cheapo PROTOOLS can be got, the mbox mini etc..

See "Logic" used to be made by a German company called eMagic. Then Apple bought them probably because their Logic audio software was so widely used on Mac's... and it worked well on them in fairness.

Like the man says have a look at ProTools, bacause the Mac has been THE platform to run ProTools since the beginning of time.

cheers lads, abusing vuse atm, serious amount of stuff on the way down since yesterday eve, buyin logic 9 for 150 notes from galmac in few weeks thru the college i'm in so that sorts the programme out, gettin thought logic so makes sense

Man I'm aslepp at the wheel here: I forgot - there's also Ableton Live... which is.... interesting. That's for Mac or PC platform - It works differently to all the others (Logic, ProTools), but it's like second nature to some DJs I'm told.

Oh god yeh, ABLETON is the win... it's definatly the future..

Protools & Mbox2 can be got for ¬400 notes new, and it comes with various free things, including ABLETON.. Downer is, the poor quality Mbox is actually a Dongle for most of the software (reason , ableton etc..) so you have to stick with it to keep things running, and you will find prottols ONLY likes digidesign or 1 alternative hardware, else it fails. It also has BIG issues with other systems - doing it's very best to avoid compatibility to keep you buying protools shite..

MACs are favoured by people for pro-tools, they go hand in hand, and IMHO, they both suck donkey cawk.. but hey, thats only MO, and who am i? I'm just some looser who thinks macs are for stupid people who have deep pockets, thats all..

Also: protools - schmotools. Just like the APPLE scene, PROTOOLS is all about seperating You from your cash.. All they want is Your money, and You agree to this when you buy into the spoof..

I'd go for a universal interface, one that will work on a PC too, and Ableton for the win.. then You have SOME hope of surviving hitting the brick-wall that MAC _always_ delivers..

cheers lads, as i said on the chat last night the mac only cost me 300 notes from the shop (thanks to the social welfare!!)

will be puttin logic 9 in in couple of weeks as thats what we using in college and will most definately be checkin out abelton live asap and of course reason. throw in a 61 and 49 key akai midi controll keyboards and a sampler/groovebox, proper monitor speakers and a small didital mixer i'll be well on me way i'd say.

mother fucking bastard machine deleted all my tunes other night in one fucking click!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

still have all the file names but no beatz ffs and have a gig organised for next week n all thru the college (totally defeated i am!!)
